Baseball Recap: Bertie Wins Going Away Against North East Carolina Prep

Bertie barely beat North East Carolina Prep the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Husky on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Falcons have posted against the Husky since March 7, 2019.

Michael Thompson, III made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched six innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Bertie is 3-1 when Thompson, III posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-12 otherwise.

In other batting news, Christian Cordon was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jesse Williams, who scored three runs and stole a base.

Bertie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Bertie's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for North East Carolina Prep, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.
