Softball Recap: Layton Comes Up Short

Layton had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-17 to make it five. They fell 4-0 to the Bountiful RedHawks. The Lancers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the RedHawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2016.

As for Bountiful, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-3. Give their pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

For Bountiful's part, the result came thanks to Dylan Carpenter's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks. Carpenter has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Claire Yates, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Layton will face off against Davis at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Darts have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season. As for Bountiful, they will take on Clearfield at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
