Basketball Recap: Lincoln-Way West Comes Up Short

Lincoln-Way West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings and fell 83-55. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Vikings are ranked fifth).

Homewood-Flossmoor's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brent Taylor led the charge by as he made all 7 shots he took to post 20 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Taylor is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last nine games he's played. Jayden Tyler was another key player, going 7 for 16 en route to 20 points.

Lincoln-Way West's loss dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Homewood-Flossmoor, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 25-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln-Way West will welcome Bradley-Bourbonnais at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bradley-Bourbonnais will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Lincoln-Way West surely won't give up without a fight. As for Homewood-Flossmoor, they will host Lincoln-Way East at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Homewood-Flossmoor knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 games -- so hopefully Lincoln-Way East likes a good challenge.
