Softball Recap: Goochland Comes Up Short

After flying high against Albemarle two weeks ago, Goochland came back down to earth. The Bulldogs lost 10-1 to the Orange County Fighting Hornets on Monday. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Fighting Hornets earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Goochland saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryleigh Shapiro, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Goochland's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Orange County, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.

Coming up, Goochland will challenge Fluvanna County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Flying Flucos' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Orange County, they will welcome Monticello at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Fighting Hornets surely won't give up without a fight.
