Baseball Game Preview: Lick-Wilmerding Tigers vs. Stuart Hall Knights

For the second straight game, Lick-Wilmerding will face off against Stuart Hall. The Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Lick-Wilmerding has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Stuart Hall hit Lick-Wilmerding with a four-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers came up short against the Knights, falling 15-3. The Tigers have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

For Stuart Hall's part, Ryder Anderson and Max Machle were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Anderson struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits. Meanwhile, Machle tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Anderson has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Anderson went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Machle went 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Machle has hit this season.

In other batting news, Stuart Hall got a massive performance out of William Malko, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with six stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those six stolen bases gave Malko a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Geno Putt, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

The victory keeps Stuart Hall at an undefeated 12-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.4 runs this season. As for Lick-Wilmerding, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
