Basketball Recap: Clyde Snags Sixth Win in Last Seven Games

Clyde won the last time they faced Vermilion, and Brayden Olson did his part to make sure it happened again. The Clyde Fliers strolled past the Vermilion Sailors with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 81-63 thanks in part to Olson, who went 9-for-13 on his way to 24 points and three steals. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points.

Price Carter was another key player, going 6-for-10 to rack up 15 points. Those 15 points gave him a new career-high.

Vermilion lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Mason Cooper, who posted 11 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Brock Meyers, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.

Clyde is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.6 points over those games. As for Vermilion, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 15 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Clyde and Vermilion could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Clyde will square off against Sandusky at 7:30 p.m. on Friday down 218 places (306 vs. 88). Similarly, Vermilion (ranked 659th) will meet Huron (ranked 301st) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
