            Softball Recap: Lake Fenton Blue Devils vs. Goodrich Martians        
        
		
        
        
            Lake Fenton faced Goodrich in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Blue Devils had just enough and edged out the Martians  5-4. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season,  with their most recent  victory being a  8-7  win  last Monday.
 Maddie Stanton (2027) spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks.
 On the hitting side, Lake Fenton let  Mia Merrell (2027) and  Lydia Slater (2025) run wild. Merrell (2027)  went 1-for-4 with two  stolen bases and one  run, while  Slater (2025)  went 2-for-4 with one  run, one  double,  and one  RBI.  Avery Heil (2027) was another key player,  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances with one  run.

Lake Fenton pushed their record up to 18-3 with the  win, which was their 13th straight  at home. Those  home  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Goodrich, their defeat  ended  a  19-game streak of away wins  dating back to last season and  brought them to 16-6.
