Baseball Preview: Carlsbad Lancers vs. Poway Titans
For the second straight game, Carlsbad will face off against Poway. The Lancers will be playing at home against the Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Carlsbad has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Carlsbad came out on top against Poway on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Lancers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Titans. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Carlsbad got a great performance from Ian Fisher as he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Fisher has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lucas Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Berson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
Carlsbad was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Poway only posted a batting average of .148.
Poway is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-16. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.8 runs. As for Carlsbad, their win bumped their record up to 14-8.
