Basketball Recap: Lakewood Takes a Loss

Lakewood was the 81-68 winner over Millikan when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Lakewood Lancers were just a bucket shy of victory on Wednesday and fell 77-76 to the Millikan Rams. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (57), the Lancers still had to take the loss.

Tariq Bridges went supernova for Millikan, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 34 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Wicker, who went 7 of 8 en route to 16 points and seven assists.

Lakewood dropped their record down to 11-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Millikan, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7.

Lakewood will face off against Woodrow Wilson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Millikan, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Long Beach Poly at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
