Volleyball Recap: Draughn Comes Up Short

Draughn lost against St. Stephens back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Indians by a score of 3-2.

Draughn came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 22-25, 26-24, 25-23, 14-25, 15-12.

Kylie Corpening paced Draughn's offense, picking up 11 kills. Corpening got some help from Shelby Proffitt and her 19 assists. Bailey Mozeley controlled things from the service line, finishing with eight aces.

Among those leading the charge was Natalie Escamilla, who had 16 digs and four assists.

Draughn now has a losing record of 2-3. As for St. Stephens, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Draughn didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 win against R-S Central on the 26th. As for St. Stephens, they are taking a road trip to square off against Maiden at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight.
