Basketball Recap: Thomas Stone Finds Playoff Glory Versus Huntingtown

With a playoff win on the line, Thomas Stone rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Huntingtown Hurricanes by a score of 58-49. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Hurricanes back in January, they had to take a 68-56 defeat.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Thomas Stone to victory, but perhaps none more so than Terrell Thompson, who went 6-for-9 on his way to 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, Thompson now owns an excellent 45.4% shooting accuracy. Savion Gaskins was another key player, putting up 12 points and four steals.

Huntingtown lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Brady Swann, who shot 43% from the field en route to 15 points. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyson Powell, who posted six points and seven boards.

The win was the third in a row for Thomas Stone, bringing their record for this year to 7-17. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points over those games. As for Huntingtown, their loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-9.

Thomas Stone has already played their next match, a 44-25 defeat against McDonough on the 6th. Huntingtown does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
