Baseball Recap: Walton-Verona Beats Conner for Their Third Straight Victory

Walton-Verona had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Conner Cougars a 7-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bearcats also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Kainan Held, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Evan Siebold, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Walton-Verona's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-12. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Conner, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-16.

Walton-Verona does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Conner, they will head out on the road to challenge Scott at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
