Basketball Recap: Community Christian Piles Up the Points Against Christ Covenant

Community Christian entered their tilt with Christ Covenant on Thursday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They really took it to the Christ Covenant Spartans for the full four quarters, racking up an 82-38 victory. The Cyclones have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 30 points or more this season.

Community Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Evan Gattis, who went 9 for 11 en route to 26 points. Gattis' morning made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jack Beamon, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Community Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Christ Covenant only racked up seven assists.

Despite the loss, Christ Covenant still got an impressive performance from Noah Stein, who posted 19 points. JD Dill was another key player, putting up seven points along with six boards and three steals.

Community Christian pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31.6 points. As for Christ Covenant, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8.

Community Christian will head out to challenge New Bern Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Christ Covenant, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Trinity Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Christ Covenant is facing Trinity Christian at the right time seeing as Trinity Christian is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
