Baseball Recap: Coronado's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Coronado walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Midland Bulldogs 8-6. The victory was nothing new for the Thunderbirds as they're now sitting on three straight.

Coronado let Walt Mann and Ryan Salcedo run wild. Mann went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Salcedo went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave Salcedo a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Norman Montion, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Coronado's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-10. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Midland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 22-8.

Coronado will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
