Basketball Recap: Carter Biggs Key Part of Team Effort in Panthers Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Western challenged Peru on Saturday. The Western Panthers strolled past the Peru Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 56-37. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 72-59 victory the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Western got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carter Biggs out in front who went 6-for-10 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds. Biggs' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Brycen Rucker was another key player, going 5-for-9 to rack up 13 points and six boards.

Western smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Peru lost, don't look at Reis Bellar. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Turner, who earned six points and seven rebounds.

Western's victory bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Peru, they dropped their record down to 9-10 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Western will look to defend their home court on Friday against West Lafayette at 7:30 p.m. As for Peru, they are taking a road trip to square off against Rochester at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
