Baseball Game Preview: Rock Ridge Phoenix vs. South County Stallions

Rock Ridge is on a nine-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and South County a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Rock Ridge Phoenix will be playing at home against the South County Stallions at 6:30 p.m. Rock Ridge will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Rock Ridge is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Park View last Thursday as they made off with a 15-2 victory. The Phoenix haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Nikhil Middha made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Middha was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Rock Ridge got a massive performance out of Dhruv Vemuri, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those RBI were Vemuri's first of the season. Ben O'Connor was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Rock Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, South County came up short against Edison on Wednesday and fell 9-4.

Rock Ridge's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for South County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
