There's no place like home for Izard County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Salem Greyhounds 8-6. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 8-5 win the Greyhounds walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2023.
Xander McCandlis and Portor Burton made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, McCandlis didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Meanwhile, Burton tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. At the plate, McCandlis scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Burton scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
