Baseball Recap: Scranton Prep Victorious

After losing to West Scranton the last time they met, Scranton Prep decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Cavaliers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Invaders on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Cavaliers have won by exactly two runs.

Johnny Petrosky was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Petrosky was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.

In other batting news, AJ Croom was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Scranton Prep hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory made it two in a row for Scranton Prep and bumps their season record up to 5-11. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for West Scranton, they dropped their record down to 4-14 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Scranton Prep will venture away from home to challenge Pleasant Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Scranton, they will head out to face off against Abington Heights at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
