Softball Recap: San Jacinto Valley Academy Beats Nuview Bridge for Their Fourth Straight Win

San Jacinto Valley Academy waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Nuview Bridge Knights 11-1. The Wolves have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Knights, too.

Avilika Arana made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Priscilla Bidriezca, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Meeya Abaoag, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

San Jacinto Valley Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nuview Bridge only posted a batting average of .318.

San Jacinto Valley Academy pushed their record up to 8-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Nuview Bridge, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 8-4-1 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Jacinto Valley Academy will take on California Military Institute at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wolves are facing the Rough Riders at the right time seeing as the Rough Riders are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Nuview Bridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.86 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
