Softball Recap: Stone Ridge Christian Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Stone Ridge Christian can now relate to. They fell just short of the Big Valley Christian Lions by a score of 8-7 on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost three in a row.

Emma Quisenberry was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Hayden Quisenberry was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Stone Ridge Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Big Valley Christian, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-18.

Stone Ridge Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Big Valley Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Buckingham Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season.
