Basketball Recap: Basalt Takes a Loss

Basalt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 36-26 to the Moffat County Bulldogs. The Longhorns lost against the Bulldogs in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 50-18 score last time.

Moffat County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bella Vanzo out in front who posted eight points and four steals. Mena Tucker was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine boards.

Basalt's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Moffat County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.

Basalt will venture away from home to take on Coal Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on January 17th. As for Moffat County, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 56-53 loss against Grand Junction on the 14th.
