Basketball Recap: Iraan Takes a Loss

Iraan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by the Wink Wildcats 60-11. While losing is never fun, the Braves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1514th, while the Wildcats are ranked 484th).

Wink's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Delaney Dodd-Fernandes led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. What's more, Dodd-Fernandes also racked up six assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Adelynn Thompson was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds.

Iraan's loss dropped their record down to 3-22. As for Wink, they pushed their record up to 19-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Iraan has already played their next matchup (against Fort Hancock), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Wink didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-48 victory against McCamey on the 28th.
