Grove City and Westerville Central are an even 4-4 against one another since August of 2018, but not for long. The Greyhounds will take on the Warhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Westerville Central took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Grove City, who comes in off a win.
Grove City lost a heartbreaker the last time they played New Albany, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. The Greyhounds were the clear victors by a 49-24 margin over the Eagles on Friday. The Greyhounds' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Grove City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carson Welsh, who threw for 479 yards and five touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes, and also rushed for 36 yards and one score. Welsh's passing game has become a key predictor of the Greyhounds' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Grove City's leading receiver Owen Steele was Welsh's top target yet again, picking up 266 receiving yards and four TDs.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Westerville Central's offense. They had to suffer through a 32-0 loss at the hands of Pickerington North. While losing is never fun, the Warhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while the Panthers are ranked 19th).
Westerville Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Nick Kreakie, Devaughn Lipsey, and Braiden Warden picked up one apiece. Lipsey is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last seven games he's played dating back to last season.
The victory made it two in a row for Grove City and bumps their season record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.5 points over those games. As for Westerville Central, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Grove City has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 282.2 passing yards per game. It's a different story for Westerville Central, though, as they've been averaging only 89 passing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant passing game?
Everything came up roses for Grove City against Westerville Central in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 35-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Greyhounds since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
