Basketball Recap: Hurricane Comes Up Short

Hurricane was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. 2025 welcomed they with a 75-52 loss courtesy of the Cedar Reds. The Tigers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Reds from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Hurricane saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Laynee Walker went 6 for 14 on her way to 20 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Hallee Wardle, who posted 11 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Hurricane's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Cedar, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4.

Hurricane will head out to square off against Crimson Cliffs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cedar, they will square off against Snow Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Snow Canyon will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something Cedar surely won't give up without a fight.
