Recap: Royal Palm Beach Wildcats vs. Clewiston Tigers
The Royal Palm Beach Wildcats waltzed into their match Wednesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They took down Clewiston 76-61. Given Royal Palm Beach's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while Clewiston is ranked 651st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Royal Palm Beach to victory were Carlos Canales and Imanol Cheatham. Canales scored 11 points along with five rebounds, while Cheatham scored 19 points. Cheatham continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Yeison Colon was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Royal Palm Beach has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Clewiston, they bumped their record down to 3-5 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Royal Palm Beach will head out on the road to face off against Wellington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wellington knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Royal Palm Beach likes a good challenge. As for Clewiston, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Glades Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
