            Baseball Recap: Temecula Valley Golden Bears vs. Santiago Sharks        
        
		
        
        
            Temecula Valley fell victim to Santiago and their airtight pitching crew  on Thursday. They lost  13-0 to the Sharks. The Golden Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sharks apparently hadn't forgotten their  defeat the last time these teams played  back in March of 2021.
Temecula Valley got a good showing from  Grayson Martin, who   didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only two  hits over four innings pitched. Martin has been consistent  recently: he hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in four consecutive appearances.
 At the plate, Temecula Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Chase Hilt, who  went a perfect 1-for-1 with one  double.
This is the second loss in a row for Temecula Valley and  nudges their season record down to 7-3. As for Santiago, their win was  their third straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 9-4.
 Temecula Valley and Santiago should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage  in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Golden Bears will  square off against  Paloma Valley  at 6:30  p.m.  on Friday with a big rank  advantage  (31 vs. 145). Meanwhile,  Santiago (ranked 90th) will meet Bonita (ranked 234th)  at 11:00  a.m.  on Friday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average (the Sharks 3, the Bearcats 3.2) so any  runs scored will be well earned.
