Basketball Recap: Geneva Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Geneva duked it out with St. Michael Catholic on Wednesday. The Geneva Panthers fell 42-29 to the St. Michael Catholic Cardinals.

When it comes to explaining why Geneva lost, don't look at Kaden Ward. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds. Ward is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played.

Even though they lost, Geneva smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 16 consecutive matchups.

Geneva's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 22-6. As for St. Michael Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season.

As of now, neither Geneva nor St. Michael Catholic have any future games scheduled.
