Recap: North Putnam Cougars vs. Southmont Mounties
The North Putnam Cougars were the 46-45 winner over the Southmont Mounties when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. North Putnam took a 54-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southmont on Tuesday. North Putnam has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
North Putnam's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jasmine Duvall, who scored 18 points along with 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Rose Haste, who scored 8 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
It was another big night for Delorean Mason, who scored 22 points along with 4 steals for Southmont. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mason has scored at least 25% of Southmont's points. Emily Link was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 8 steals.
North Putnam's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Southmont, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
North Putnam will be playing at home against Cloverdale at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cloverdale is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Southmont, they will head out on the road to face off against Parke Heritage at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Parke Heritage's defense has only allowed 29.2 points per game this season, so Southmont's offense will have their work cut out for Southmont.
