Basketball Game Preview: Alamosa Mean Moose vs. Weld Central Rebels

The Alamosa Mean Moose will challenge the Weld Central Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Alamosa is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Centauri just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 39-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons.

Despite their defeat, Alamosa saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Audrina Knorr, who posted 14 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Rothermich, who had five points in addition to five rebounds and five blocks.

Meanwhile, Weld Central suffered their closest loss since February 6, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Fort Morgan by a score of 41-38. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Alamosa's defeat dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Weld Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 16 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.
