Mt. Carmel had won 11 straight games and Kyleigh Smith did her part to make it 12 on Wednesday. Everything went the Cubs' way against the Riverdale Rebels as they made off with a 3-0 win thanks in part to Smith, who had eight digs and five aces. She is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served five or more in each of the last three games she's played.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Mt. Carmel was: they took every set by at least 12 points. The final score came out to 25-8, 25-13, 25-6.

Mt. Carmel's victory bumped their record up to 26-2. As for Riverdale, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Mt. Carmel will take on rival East Jefferson at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Riverdale is set to challenge their familiar foe West Jefferson at 5:30 p.m. on the 16th.
