On Wednesday Alexis Mendez pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits, which was good enough to set a new career-low in hits. As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was her fifth in a row with less than one walk. For the season, she has an ERA of 2.97 over 30.7 innings pitched.

Coming up, Mendez and Queen Creek will be playing at home against Williams Field at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs got just the result they wanted when they last faced the Black Hawks thanks in part to Mendez: she struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk).
