Preview: Angola Hornets vs. Central Noble Cougars
The Angola Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Central Noble Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Angola focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, it was a hard-fought game, but Angola had to settle for a 50-47 defeat against Fairfield. Angola has not had much luck with Fairfield recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite their defeat, Angola saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Macy Oberlin, who scored 14 points along with 7 steals, was perhaps the best of all. Ava Rinard was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Central Noble came up short against Goshen on Tuesday and fell 46-38.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Grace Swank, who scored 11 points. She scored a full 28.9% of Central Noble's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Abby Pliett, who scored 13 points.
Norwell's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Angola's defeat dropped theirs to 2-4.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Angola have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Central Noble struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
