Basketball Recap: El Segundo Comes Up Short

El Segundo suffered their biggest defeat since November 28th on Wednesday. They were dealt a 76-37 loss at the hands of the Torrance Tartars. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 680th, while the Tartars are ranked 132nd).

El Segundo has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Torrance, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-3.

Looking ahead, El Segundo will venture away from home to face off against Verbum Dei Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. El Segundo will be up against Verbum Dei Jesuit's rather soft defense (which has allowed 60.6 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Torrance, they will take on Fremont in a tournament on Saturday.
