Baseball Recap: Chico Extends Home Winning Streak to 17

Chico won against Pleasant Valley on Friday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Panthers walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Foothill Cougars. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Jordan Neugebauer made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run.

In other pitching news, Carter Miles looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since April 2nd.

Back at the plate, Jaxxon Tweedt was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Neugebauer, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Chico always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foothill only posted an OBP of .314.

Chico pushed their record up to 23-1 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Foothill, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Chico beat Foothill by a score of 5-3 later that day.
