Softball Recap: Leetonia Sets Scoring Season-High Against Heartland Christian

Leetonia extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 29 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-13 in the process. They came up short against the Heartland Christian Lions, falling 28-11. On the bright side, the 11- run performance marked the Bears' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Faith Dillon was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run. That run marked the first that she has scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Breyle Merritt, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

As for Heartland Christian, they moved to 3-6 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 8.6 runs per game.

On Heartland Christian's side, they got a massive performance out of Gabriella McDowell, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Sarah Reynolds was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leetonia will face off against East Palestine at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Heartland Christian, they will welcome United at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
