Baseball Recap: Cottondale Hornets vs. Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks
Cottondale had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 17-13 to make it six. They came up short against the Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks, falling 13-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Hornets have suffered since April 3rd.
Cottondale saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Maloy, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.
As for Port St. Joe, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. Considering they have won 11 matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Port St. Joe's side, Corban Butts was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Butts has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Baylor Partie, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
