Softball Game Preview: North Jackson Chiefs vs. Plainview Bears

The North Jackson Chiefs are taking a road trip to take on the Plainview Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Jackson will be strutting in after a win while Plainview will be coming in after a loss.

North Jackson took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over North Sand Mountain. The win continues a trend for the Chiefs in their matchups with the Bison: they've now won six in a row.

Darcy McClendon spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, North Jackson's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Allison Ferguson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Josie McClendon was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Plainview's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Madison County by a score of 6-5.

Plainview's defeat dropped their record down to 18-6. As for North Jackson, their win bumped their record up to 9-14.

North Jackson suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Plainview when the teams last played back in March. Can the Chiefs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
