Basketball Recap: Gulf Piles Up the Points Against Patel

Gulf won the last time they faced Patel and things went their way on Thursday too. The Gulf Buccaneers claimed a resounding 75-26 victory over the Patel Trailblazers. The Buccaneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 21 points or more this season.

Gulf was led to victory by Curtis Scriven and Mikha Brown. Scriven dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 boards, while Brown went 5 of 6 on his way to 17 points and five steals. Brown is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed four or more in the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydn Wood, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

The win made it two in a row for Gulf and bumps their season record up to 9-3. As for Patel, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gulf won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Palm Harbor University at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Palm Harbor University has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Patel, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll take on Zephyrhills at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
