The Owensville Dutchmen are taking a road trip to take on the Eugene Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Owensville had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt St. James on Wednesday. The Dutchmen put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 13-5 win. The victory continues a trend for the Dutchmen in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.
Owen Binkhoelter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned runs on five hits.
On the hitting side, Owensville got a massive performance out of Landon Kramme, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Kramme has posted since back in March. Maddox Parker also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Owensville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.
Eugene came out on top against Harrisburg on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run seventh inning. The Eagles blew past the Bulldogs 8-2. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Chase Richard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Garet Wood was excellent, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one RBI. Jeffrey Schulte was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Eugene has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Owensville, their record is now 10-8.
