Softball Recap: Walkertown Comes Up Short

Walkertown entered their match against McMichael on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Walkertown came up short against McMichael, falling 11-5. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Wolfpack, who until this contest were averaging 2.8 runs allowed.

Chloe Isaacs was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Miller, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Walkertown's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-2. As for McMichael, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.

Walkertown and McMichael should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Walkertown (ranked 39th) will meet Bethany Community (ranked 143rd) at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, McMichael will square off against South Stokes at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday up 192 places (23 vs. 215).
