The Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles will take on the Fort Wayne Bishop Luers Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Guerin Catholic took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Park Tudor. The Golden Eagles haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Luke Gremelspacher tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Guerin Catholic is 3-1 when Gremelspacher allows three or fewer earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Carson Kail was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Canada, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Guerin Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Fort Wayne Bishop Luers waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Cadets with a sharp 11-1 victory.
Fort Wayne Bishop Luers also got a great performance from Anthony Antonuccio as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk).
On the hitting side, Jacob Felger and Jaxson Hill did most of the damage at the plate: Felger went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Hill went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was Hill's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ben Kiracofe, who earned one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.
Fort Wayne Bishop Luers' record now sits at 9-7. As for Guerin Catholic, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Guerin Catholic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Fort Wayne Bishop Luers struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
