Baseball Recap: Parkway West Takes a Loss

Parkway West had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 5-16 to make it four. They came up short against the Parkway South Patriots, falling 10-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Longhorns of the 8-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2022.

As for Parkway South, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games.

For Parkway South's part, they got a great performance from Andrew Heskett as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Heskett has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on August Johansen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Parkway West will face off against Rockwood Summit at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Longhorns' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Parkway South, they will take on Lindbergh at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
