Basketball Recap: Aubree Fitzgerald's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. Paul over Sandy Creek

St. Paul lost against Sandy Creek back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The St. Paul Wildcats fell 43-35 to the Sandy Creek Cougars. The Wildcats' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

St. Paul's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aubree Fitzgerald, who posted 12 points in addition to six boards and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlee Wegner, who had 11 points and five rebounds.

St. Paul's record is now 5-7. As for Sandy Creek, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Paul will welcome Central City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central City's defense has only allowed 28.4 points per game this season, so St. Paul's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Sandy Creek, they will challenge Nebraska Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
