Football Game Preview: Blue Mountain Eagles vs. North Schuylkill Spartans

The Blue Mountain Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the North Schuylkill Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Blue Mountain will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.

Blue Mountain is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They enjoyed a cozy 49-34 victory over Lehighton on Friday.

Blue Mountain's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cohen Kirby, who threw for 153 yards and two touchdowns. Kirby's passing game has become a key predictor of the Eagles' success: the team is 3-1 when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Reese Miller was in the mix too, providing Blue Mountain with two scores.

Blue Mountain was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 294 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for North Schuylkill, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past Bangor, posting a 52-22 win. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Slaters are ranked 410th) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Blue Mountain's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.0 points over those games. As for North Schuylkill, they now also have a winning record of 4-3.

Blue Mountain suffered a grim 38-14 defeat to North Schuylkill in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
