Softball Recap: Lakeview Comes Up Short

If Lakeview was riding high fresh off their 14-4 takedown of Chippewa Hills on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats came up short against the Kent City Eagles on Monday, falling 9-3. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Lakeview saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaileigh Ripley, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. Another was Madi Bristol, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Lakeview has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games. As for Kent City, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-4.

While Lakeview had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
