Baseball Game Preview: Tara Trojans vs. Donaldsonville Tigers

The Tara Trojans will head out to face off against the Donaldsonville Tigers at 3:35 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tara has three straight victories, Donaldsonville has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Thursday, Tara made easy work of Donaldsonville and carried off a 17-9 win. Considering the Trojans have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Adrian Coleman and Enrique Avila made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Coleman struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Avila pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Coleman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Coleman went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Avila scored four runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Coleman has become a key player for Tara: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, Tyrick Patin was a standout: he scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. Lenmorrow Lawrence was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Tara kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Tara's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Donaldsonville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6-1.
