Scotts Valley and Soquel are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Falcons will host the Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Scotts Valley has five straight wins, Soquel has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Scotts Valley and Aptos, and Scotts Valley kept the tradition alive. The Falcons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Mariners on Thursday.

Sofie Seese spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Taylor Wilson was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazzy Doubek, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Soquel suffered their closest loss since April 11, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Harbor by a score of 7-5.

Scotts Valley pushed their record up to 14-5-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Soquel, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Everything went Scotts Valley's way against Soquel when the teams last played last Thursday, as Scotts Valley made off with a 10-2 win. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
