Basketball Game Preview: Silver Lake Mustangs vs. Axtell Wildcats

The Silver Lake Mustangs are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge the Axtell Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither Silver Lake nor Axtell posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

Silver Lake came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 56-30 to Deshler. Mustangs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Dragons since Friday.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 66-17, which was the final score in Axtell's tilt against Bertrand on Friday.

Axtell's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Silver Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Silver Lake beat Axtell 62-54 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
