Volleyball Game Preview: Penns Valley Area Rams vs. Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers

Penns Valley Area is 0-7 against Hollidaysburg since September of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Rams are taking a road trip to square off against the Golden Tigers at 7:00 p.m.

Penns Valley Area is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest loss since September 8th on Tuesday. They came up short against Philipsburg-Osceola, falling 3-0.

Penns Valley Area was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-14, 25-13.

Meanwhile, Hollidaysburg came tearing into Thursday's game with seven straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Dragons as they made off with a 3-0 win.

Hollidaysburg walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the third set). The final score came out to 25-18, 25-21, 25-12.

Hollidaysburg found their leader in sophomore Makenzie McLanahan, who had seven digs and three aces.

Hollidaysburg was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces in three consecutive contests.

Hollidaysburg's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Penns Valley Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.

Penns Valley Area suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Hollidaysburg in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
