Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Concord

Concord came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the North Adams-Jerome Rams by a score of 9-4.

Gavin Riske made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Concord is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-12 otherwise. Riske was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Riske wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Colton Gray, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Gray is becoming a predictor of Concord's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 7-12 when he doesn't).

Concord's win bumped their record up to 9-13. As for North Adams-Jerome, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 11-3 record.

Concord has already played their next contest (against Tekonsha), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. North Adams-Jerome does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
